I’m Melissa — founder of Melissa Hubbard Web Design LLC, a web and brand designer based in Newport News, Virginia. I work with businesses across Hampton Roads, the Outer Banks, Northern Virginia, Baltimore, and throughout the United States, creating custom websites and brand identities that are not only visually compelling, but strategically built for real growth.

But my business didn’t start as a perfectly mapped-out plan. It started as a pivot.

Where It Really Began

At the end of my maternity leave, I was faced with a decision that would change everything.

I had been working from home as a Digital Marketing Specialist, balancing campaigns, clients, and deadlines while raising my young family. When I was told my role was transitioning back to in-office, I knew immediately—it wasn’t an option for me.

With a newborn and a four-year-old at home, returning to a traditional 9–5 didn’t align with the life I wanted to build.

So I had a choice.

Update my resume. Scroll Indeed. Find something “safe.”Or finally go all in on something I had always wanted to do.

The truth? I was scared.Taking risks has never come naturally to me, and the fear of failing was very real. But the idea of not even trying felt worse.

I chose to build.

Figuring It Out As I Went

I was Googling “how to homeschool my kindergartener” and “how to start a business” at the same time.

Balancing client calls, late-night brainstorming sessions, and the never-ending to-do list that comes with running a business—while raising two boys with my husband and trying to be present for it all—became my new normal.

And then waking up the next day and doing it all over again.

It wasn’t perfect. It wasn’t always easy. But it was mine.

Two days after making that decision, I had a website. That website became the foundation of what is now my business.

Today, I specialize in custom website design, brand design, and marketing assets—helping business owners create cohesive, professional online presences that actually work for them.

Every project is personally crafted by me. No outsourcing. No shortcuts.

With over a decade of experience in marketing, I approach every brand with strategy first—making sure your website doesn’t just look good, but supports real business growth, attracts the right audience, and helps you show up with confidence.

A Little More About Me

When I’m not designing, I’m a homeschool mom of two and the eldest daughter (which basically means organization is my default setting).

You’ll usually find me working through my ever-growing TBR list, rewatching episodes of The Office, unwinding at hot yoga, or exploring beaches and trails with my boys.

It’s a constant balance—building a business I love while being present for the life I’m building it for.

And honestly? I wouldn’t have it any other way.
